Zazzy Bandz has become an immensely popular hair accessory since we began this venture a few years ago. From the beginning, our mission has not only been to produce a quality product for our customers but to offer financial support to those in need, here in the U.S. and around the world. A portion of each purchase goes to Peniel Centre Orphanage in Bulawayo, Zimbabwe.
We are excited to share good news from Peniel! We give a big shout-out to Gideon and Jennifer Chishamba for all they do for the children of Peniel, especially during the Covid pandemic. They are selfless in using their God-given gift of service.
Gideon shared a need for consistent electrical power earlier in the year following time without electricity due to some local criminal activity. Without power, the children not only did not have lights, but they also lost access to their electric water pump. Several students needed to study for their very important end-of-year exams. COVID wreaked havoc on the investigation into the case delaying the restoration of services. Jennifer and Gideon asked their supporters to pray for them to find options for their students.
Zazzy Bandz was able to provide the needed financial support to equip Peniel Center Orphanage with solar panels. Solar panels are the most cost-effective means to provide electricity and water for the children of Peniel. The first set of panels enabled the students to have solar lighting at night and to have water for the orphanage. This solar answer was made possible due to our customers’ support of Zazzy Bandz. It’s amazing how the purchase of just one Zazzy Bandz headband can help a child in Zimbabwe.
They now have enough power and water, enabling their students to prepare for exams even when the sun has gone down.
Upon receiving the funds for the panels, Gideon wrote, “Thank you so much for your support. This is going to go a long way in providing the children’s home with water as well as solar power to light the bulbs at night. The children will be able to study at night once the solar power has been installed. We will send you photos once the project is complete.”
Gideon not only expressed his gratitude to us but also asked that we prayerfully share the need for a second battery to fully power the entire orphanage.
Update from Gideon: “Thank you again for the solar power to pump water for daily use. We are completely grateful. Through your support, these wonderful children managed to score good points even though we had the challenges of COVID 19.”
Thank you so much for the support.
Blessings,
Gideon and Jennifer Chishamba, caretakers of Peniel Centre Orphanage
